The GST portal login is the official sign-in at www.gst.gov.in. It is how a registered taxpayer reaches the services operated through the GST system: filing returns, paying tax, viewing ledgers, updating profile details and responding to notices.
It is not a login on this website, and it is not the same as signing in to any private tool or lookup service. The credentials you use here belong to the GST system: a username, or a Provisional ID, GSTIN or UIN, together with a password and the registered email and mobile that can receive OTPs.

Open the GST portalA separate GSTVibe information and tools site. It offers GSTIN lookup, calculators, invoice preparation and guides. It is not the GST portal and it does not replace it.
GSTIN searchKeep the two sign-ins separate. Do not enter your GST portal username or password on this website.
Portal login is for the people and businesses that must file returns, pay tax, view ledgers, update details or respond to notices through the GST system.
Any business registered under GST, including sole proprietorships, partnerships, LLPs and companies, logs in to file returns, pay tax and complete compliance tasks.
Professionals supplying goods or services above the GST threshold register and log in to meet their GST obligations.
Chartered accountants, tax consultants and GST practitioners log in on behalf of clients to assist with compliance.
You do not need to log in just to check a GST number. A public GSTIN search can be done without an account. Portal login is for the GST system services that need your registered credentials.
Signing in is how you move from checking a registration to doing the work the GST system expects of a registered taxpayer. The login is the entry point for the actions that depend on your registered account.
File GST returns such as GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B within the applicable deadlines.
Create challans and pay GST online through net banking, cards, or NEFT/RTGS.
View electronic cash, credit and liability ledgers for your transactions and balances.
Update profile, contact, address and bank-account details.
View and respond to notices and orders issued by tax authorities.
Apply for refunds and track application status.
Login is the gateway to these services. The exact set available depends on your registration type and the GST system.
Gather the details the portal expects before you start. A smooth login usually begins with the right credentials and a working contact channel for OTPs.
Your username, or your Provisional ID, GSTIN or UIN, depending on the stage you are at. Keep the exact identifier handy.
The password you received during registration or created after first-time login. First-time users use the password sent to the registered email.
The email registered with the GST portal, used for OTPs and important updates.
The mobile number registered with the portal, used for OTP delivery.
Also check the basics. Use a compatible browser such as Chrome, Firefox or Edge, with a stable internet connection. If a captcha is not loading, refresh the page and clear the browser cache before assuming the portal is down.

Use the Forgot Username link on the login page.
If the OTP expires, use the RESEND OTP link to receive it again on your registered email and mobile.
Use the Forgot Password link on the login page.
The new password must be 8 to 15 characters, with at least one number, one special character, one uppercase letter and one lowercase letter.
Passwords must be 8 to 15 characters long and include at least one number, one special character, one uppercase letter and one lowercase letter. A new password cannot be the same as your previous five passwords.
Username and password recovery both depend on the email and mobile registered with the GST portal.
After entering your credentials and the captcha, some logins require a second round of authentication through an OTP sent to your registered mobile and email. You enter the OTP and click SUBMIT.
You do not enter an OTP every time. On a trusted browser and device you have already authenticated from, the second step is usually not required.
You are more likely to be asked for an OTP when:
You log in for the first time using your credentials.
You try to log in for more than 5 times within a minute.
You log in from a new device that you have not authenticated from before.
You try to log in from more than 10 devices in an hour.
The system detects a distant location within a short duration.
The portal also restricts login from a country other than India and can block untrusted IP addresses. In those cases a message is shown on screen.
Once you are logged in, the dashboard gives access to GST services for your registration. The exact set depends on your taxpayer type, but the common actions are return filing, payment and challans, ledgers, profile updates, notices and orders, and refunds.
After first-time login, the portal may prompt you to file a non-core amendment to add bank account details. Adding bank details is optional for TDS and TCS taxpayers, who can click SKIP to continue to the dashboard. For other taxpayers, if bank account details are not added through non-core amendment within 45 days, the portal can restrict them to adding bank account details and filing the non-core amendment; until then they may only log out.
Go to the GST portalFile returns such as GSTR-1, GSTR-3B and others using the forms and deadlines applicable to your registration.
Create challans and pay GST online through net banking, cards, or NEFT/RTGS, and track payment status and history.
Check electronic cash, credit and liability ledgers for a current picture of your GST transactions and balances.
Keep contact details, addresses and bank accounts current so communication with the tax authorities stays reliable.
View and respond to notices and orders issued by tax authorities, and track the status of your communications.
Apply for refunds and track application status using the services relevant to your registration.
Services available after login depend on your registration type and the GST system.
Most login issues come down to credentials, contact channels for OTPs, the captcha, or the browser you are using. Work through the likely cause before assuming the portal is down.
Use Forgot Username or Forgot Password on the login page. Both rely on the email and mobile registered with the GST portal, and both use an OTP.
Refresh the page, clear the browser cache, and check that the internet connection is stable. Make sure the browser is up to date.
Enter the username or Provisional ID/GSTIN/UIN exactly as issued. For first-time login, use the password sent to the registered email.
Repeated incorrect attempts can lock an account for a short period. Wait, then try again with the correct credentials.
If you log in with a DSC, make sure the DSC is properly installed and connected, and that the necessary drivers and software are present.
Check the email and mobile registered with the portal. If the OTP expires, use RESEND OTP to request it again.
For problems that continue after the usual checks, contact the GST helpdesk by toll-free number 1800-1200-232 or by email at helpdesk@gst.gov.in. You can also raise a ticket through the GST portal grievance system.

Use the Forgot Password link, enter your username, complete the captcha, generate and submit the OTP, then set a new password. The new password must be 8 to 15 characters with at least one number, one special character, one uppercase letter and one lowercase letter.
You must change your password mandatorily after 120 days. You can also change it yourself from the Change Password link after logging in.
A second OTP step can appear on first login, after more than 5 attempts within a minute, from a new device you have not authenticated from before, when you try to log in from more than 10 devices in an hour, or when a login is attempted from a distant location within a short duration. On a trusted browser and device you have authenticated from before, you do not have to enter OTP every time.
Logging in from a country other than India is restricted. If you try it, the system can blacklist the attempt and show a message on screen.
Repeated incorrect attempts can lock an account, usually for a short period. Wait, then try again with the correct credentials. If the issue continues, contact the GST helpdesk.
